The master bathroom has a long skylight that washes light over a long wall of stone, changing in mood and intensity over the course of the day.

A two-story addition and extensive renovation of a residence in the Berkeley Hills. The bedroom, nestled under a majestic cypress tree, looks out to the backyard, neighboring tile rooftops and a long view of San Francisco Bay.The general contractor was Shigoto Ya, www.shigoto-ya.com
  
A skylight over a light shelf expands the sense of openness and the play of natural light.
  
The study's corner window looks out to San Francisco and the bay.
     
  
The second floor has the feeling of a lookout,  capturing view of the immediate surroundings and long views of San Francisco Bay.
  
The two-story addition at the rear plays on the roof configuration and corner windows of the existing house, re-interpreting them with a lighter, more open approach.
  
Every space captures a special view - a tree, the garder, the bay - while allowing for the varied play of natural light during the day.
     
  
The stair is flooded with natural light from high windows on the north. The library opens onto a sandstone patio under the cypress tree.
  
  
Built-in bookcases and storage line the east and west walls. The library is a multi-purpose room, used for large family gatherings.
     
  
The east wall of the library is backed by a carefully waterproofed retaining wall. A long horizontal window captures a view of the higher lever rear yard.
